OwI'll give you a clue as to how to solve these type of puzzles. Start by looking at the "hundreds" position. That tells you that the full border on the left most string is not a 1,and must be greater than the diagonal half border pointing to top right in string 2 as well as the half vertical border on the right of the hundreds character in the result.
Then look at the additions - any two symbols that add to make a third must be smaller.
Think about "remainders" when two symbols are added if you can see the 9 in the final column, as the result must be 1 Less than the number added to the 9. Eg 9 + 6 = 15 (5 is one less than 6 and carry one). 9 + 4 is 13 (3 is one less than 4 and carry one).
Then just grind on through it until you get a handful of symbols in order of value. Assign values, test and Robert's your mother's brother.
